CHECKOUT HOW ROBBERS RUBBISHED IJU COMMUNITY

The Iju-Ishaga community on the outskirt of Lagos State, was on Tuesday, April 7, held to ransom by some dare-devil armed robbers who stormed four streets in the area and carried out a house to house raid where huge sums of money and valuable properties were carted away as well hacking a local OPC security guard to death after their bullets failed to kill him.

The robbers numbering over 20, were however not so lucky as two of them were arrested by policemen from the Iju Police Station while other members of the gang fled through the swamp.

The Secretary of the Iju-Ishaga Community Development Association, Evangelist Elija Umoh reported that the robbers broke into virtually all the buildings in the area, scaling through the fences.“The robbers were about 20. They attacked the four streets that make up the community. The streets are Nelson Cole, Iyabo Williams, Alafia and Hope Streets.

The guard, Mathew, was hacked to death with machetes at Alafia Street. We discovered that they chose to kill him that way after bullets from the robbers’ guns could not penetrate his body.It all started around 2am. I received a call frommy tenant that he was hearing noises in the area. He suspected armed robbers were operating.

I raised the alarm and called my CDA Chairman. I also called the security operativeswithin the area. The Chief security of the area said they were up to 22 armed robbers.

They moved from one building to the next. When they discovered that security men were all over the place, they started looking for an escape route.”Items recovered from the two apprehended bandits included two locally made guns, cartridges, charms, identity cards, ATM cards and a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
